Casey Hatfield-Chiotti is a writer, editor and production manager who has contributed content to The New York Times, Travel + Leisure, Departures, Robb Report, Afar, Sunset, Bon Appétit, Marin Living, Airbnb, Virgin Atlantic, Yahoo, and others. She began her career in broadcast news. She covered crime, politics and economic development in Oregon and Idaho before taking time off to travel. After seeing the pale pink sunrise from the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro and eating steak so tender you could slice it with a spoon in Buenos Aires, she knew she could never live a life where travel wasn’t a big part of it again. Since then she has written about the ultimate croissant crawl in Paris, where she lived from 2014 to 2016, Mayan farmers growing heirloom ingredients in their backyards for one of the world’s best restaurants and the transformation of a storied French château into a luxury hotel.
Hotels are one of her favorite subjects, and she has visited and penned articles on many of the very best from the Ritz in Paris to Francis Mallmann’s five-bedroom Hotel Garzón in the artful Uruguayan enclave. She has also written about the culture of fear, age-defying French skincare and San Diego’s art scene and uses the meticulous reporting skills she has honed for more than 15 years in every assignment and piece of content she produces.
